On one of my many trips to Hawaii I visited the Air Museum of the Pacific where they have the Stearman Bi-plane that he trained in as a Navy pilot as well as his log book.
On Saturday I listened to the NRP interviews with some of his cabinet members and friends, including Colin Powell and a member of the Oakridge Boys, his favorite country western band. Presidents since his term should have learned from him on how to treat people.

He was the last military veteran to become President (Clinton, Bush 43, Obama and Trump never served, or was granted waivers [Clinton , Bush 43]).
Not to be too political, but the vitriol we now have in our politics started with his re-election campaign. The Willie Horton ad, against Michael Dukakis, was created by Larry McCarthy, who worked for Roger Ailes.

Just watched the plane come down at Andrews. I can see the horizon into MD and got out my binoculars.

Bush 43 flew a plane, dangerous in itself. Then it was built by the lowest bidder, more dangerous. And maintained by people paid very low wages, more danger. I'd say he served his country.
