Free Windows 10? What to do?

You'll be able to decide exactly when to actually do the install. You can reserve the free upgrade now, then hold off actually installing it until you get the OK from the software vendor.
If an app runs under 7 or 8, then there should be no issue, but if you're paranoid, you can wait and let others find out for you. You'll have up to a year to actually do the install, as far as I've read.

I'll sign up and you tell me how it goes after you install the program!

Win 10 looks like it has fancier desktop and startup screen options. Running apps maybe the same as Win 7. I'm not big on startup screens... so I'm keeping Win 7, for now.

My concern is if I'm running a program installed for windows 7 or 8, (At work Sage/Peachtree Accounting) how do I know I won't have issues if I upgrade the operating system? I can check with Sage, but maybe other programs might have issues??
Please answer in easy to understand, not tech talk.

I am a Peachtree Partner and a member of the Sage Accountants Network. So far I've been told that it will be compatible (at least the new version of Sage50). I'm going to speak to their tech department this coming week (I have a very serious issue with one of my clients involving Peachtree). I'll ask about this again.

Believe me, there's more than the start up screen. If that was all they were going to change, they could have had Win 10 out a LONG time ago. There are security fixes (may be slightly important), there are program fixes, there is a lot of code optimization. You might also remember that MS has active support for any operating system for 5 years, then it becomes an "on-demand" support system. Win 7 is getting close to the end of the 5 year period.

Lainey, can I say "just buy a Mac" now, or is your prohibition still in effect? I wouldn't want to do anything that you have prohibited.

I've looked and looked but I can find that message on my Macbook anywhere.
