Free Windows 10? What to do?

Major Windows 10 update - took about 45 min on my PC.

Deb, as I reported in another thread, I finally got Win10 to stop automatically downloading updates. So what did MS do? The next update time, they announced I had to download it myself, and froze my computer until I did it.
To me this is illegal, or should be. Like your Honda dealer telling you to bring in your car for an oil change, then turning it off until you do.

^ This was not automatic...there were options as to when to do it. But not sure what would happen if you put it off indefinitely.

Dean the security patches are probably well worth it.

I don't doubt that the updates are worth it. But my computer and all of it's software were purchased by me and I did not give MS my permission to force downloads on me. I will update Windows, but I prefer to do it on my schedule, not theirs. Isn't that my right?

Just buy a Mac. And do this to Windows

That last update took a long time to load! I also got noticed that it has affected some folks who use the bookkeeping program that I use at the office. I've not had an issue, but there was one time when my program was not ready for one of the updates. I agree, one should have a choice as to if they want the latest and greatest update. The new Firefox update is slowing some things down as well. Just leave stuff alone!
