Front license plate requirement

Front license plate requirement
When I first bought my car, I very reluctantly put on the front license plate, even though I thought it ruined the whole look of the front end. At that time, the Ohio legislature was considering a proposal to require only rear license plates. Well, that proposal was nixed by the State Highway Patrol, even though statistics showed that one-plate states surrounding Ohio were not less safe. Anyway, I came across this graphic recently which shows how isolated Ohio is, and how it is surrounded by one-plate states. I still wish I could get rid of that ugly front plate.

Our state requires two on new registrations. I've had the same plate on my Jeep since 1997, if not before, I have ONE plate only on that car.
The S has two plates, one on the back, and one in the trunk. If we get stopped (and we have been stopped ) it's there if the police officer asks about it. So far, they've never asked.

I fully legally have have only one plate on the S. I got the plate in 92 for a used postal jeep. It then went to a CRX (briefly), a 93 Civic Ex and a 99 Integra before going to the S.

Three reasons to move to Michigan:
1- It's still a car loving state in spite of all the bad news.
2- They don't have the budget to produce two plates even if they wanted to.
3- S2000's are really still rare here.
PS, I feel your pain; I hate them on this car.

When I lived in Texas I did the same thing with the S and my Jeep. I only got stopped once and the officer told me to put the plate on the front and let me go. I never did. Does that qualify as civil disobedience?

that most cars (especially the S) look better without a front plate. I have both because I figure that it is one less thing to trigger a stop if a constable is on the fence about pulling one over. Here in the Commonwealth of Virginia they use LASER guns quite a bit. Of course the front plate is their flat surface, but if one is on the border line of 10% over the speed limit (I.E. 61 in a 55 MPH zone) why give them a reason to tip the scale as to whether or not to pull you over.
