Default Garden/yards 2026

Time for the new garden/yard thread.

I need to add some pictures,(for Patricia) but it's cold out. One area of our arbor vitae took a real beating during the blizzard. Other areas popped back up again, this one did not. We just had our shrub guy come by and take a look at it. Not much choice but to give the shrub a major haircut and it will be into the wood, as they say. It will look like crap for a while, but it already does. There is no guarantee that any new greenery will grow in, but can't leave it as it is. If greenery doesn't come in, his suggestion is to plant some new shrubs among the ones that are out there to fill in the area. That may work.

Barb came in today with the observation that she can turn the garden and maybe get in some cold weather seeds before she leaves for Seattle. (on Thursday)

^She and Bea must be sisters from another mother. I think most of ours have been moved at one time or another!

I have some healthy onion starts going in my office next to my peppers and tomatoes. Hoping for a better season than last year!

^3-25-2026. I know everyone on here probably has lots more plants and trees than I do in dry Colorado. This tree is budding out and I appreciate it.

we had buds on many of our trees including the little peach tree next to our porch. then a week and a half ago the temp plummeted and it snowed. so that has set some things back

^3-10-2026. Same here. This was taken in the morning before a light but heavy wet snow coated the blossoms at 10 PM . They all died and now the tree is getting leaves.

^3-11-2026.

Patty, I am jealous of your views.
We have them too, I just need to go up 80 or so feet in elevation to be able to see them.

I can attest that it is beautiful around Patricia's house. This coming from a flat lander.
