Default Getting music into an Ipod

We don't play a lot of music in the house, but I do like music, especially when I exercise/walk alone. I decided to get with the new technology and purchased an ipod nano. I can use this when I walk (and even jog a bit) around the indoor track at the Y, or walk my outdoor route. It also functions as an FM radio and does other neat apple type tricks too.

Now I'll need to get some music into it. I've looked on line, and I found some basic tutorials. I don't think it will be a big deal, though it may take some time. We have some CD's I do like, and I imagine I'll download some itunes as well.

Any helpful hints to get my CD's into the computer then the ipod without too much effort?

Lainey,

itunes will do that (take the music from your CD & put it on your ipod) What it will do exactly is take the music off your CD and put it on your computer permanently. When you plug your ipod in itunes will automatically transfer that music on to it. That is the simplest way I can describe the process. IT IS EASY.

Lainey! You first have to install iTunes on your PC ( a free download) After it is installed, open it, and click on Help. There you will see step-by-step instructions on how to copy CD's into iTunes, and then how to copy the songs you want from iTunes onto your iPod.

Edit: I see Vadster posted essentially the same advice a couple minutes before I did.

You will figure it out. Here is a youtube tutorial. I don't have sound @ the office so I can't tell if what they're saying is helping along with the visual. Please excuse the "dummies" part of the subject

Dammit Alex how did you do that? Nothing other than your text was in your post yet I heard the instructions.

OK. I now have a question?

As some of you know our Dell Desktop PC was taken out by the Win 7 2012 Worm which mutated and was not caught by McAfee's TOTAL SECURITY (which is apparently NOT in my opinion). It prevented me from doing restore points in Windows 7 or back ups from my external drive. So I had no choice but to bring my Dell back to "new out of the box condition".

I have about 1600 tunes (both imported from CD's and purchased from I-Tunes. Additionally, I have about forty pod casts that currently live on my I-phone 4. When I tried to re-synch my I-phone it wanted to erase the 1600 tunes and replace them with the three sample music files that are native to Windows 7. In previous editions of I-Tunes there use to be an option to have your phone overwrite your PC and vice verse. But seems to no longer be the case??? I stopped by the Apple Store and was told that the purchased music would be synched but the music that I ripped from my CD collection would have to be re-done. I find this to be unacceptable.

I sent an E-mail off to the I-Tunes support site about a week ago and have not seen a reply from them yet (as I type this). Does anyone have any "words of wisdom" for me?

Thank you.

Yeah, I think you're screwed. Me too. I can't get my CD music on my iPod back onto my computer either, after changing from Vista to Windows7. Bogus.

Matt and Patty, search your hard drive for any ".mp3" files to see if they were saved by some chance. I have seen instances where even though you put the computer "back to new", it created a partition and saved your files on it. If you do happen to find the mp3 files, you can simply import them into iTunes (File, Add Folder To Library..." will do this quickly).

If the files were not saved, you'll need to add them back in manually (pita, I know). Which ever way you get your music back, it's worth it to invest in a small external hdd to back up your music. I recently picked up a 500GB drive for $99.00. It can save you a world of grief later.

Hope this helps.
