Had the usual number. Going by the amount of candy bars left we had just shy of 100.

None this year. None last year. Our driveway is 125 feet long. To far for the kids to walk I guess.

Our township did a big "Trunk or Treat" in one of the parks. I think a lot of kids and parents went to that.

Don't know. Went to Happy Hour with friends and turned out the lights. A tradition we "treat" ourselves to every Halloween.

I think many parents now are taking kids to group events. My nephew took his to trick or treating at a local mall. It was packed. Seems concerns about candy and other safety have taken over.

They do the trunk or treat here too but I think that is more because we are so rural.
As far as safety concerns over getting candy from strangers I remember when I was a kid there was a small e.r. about a mile away from us and if you brought your candy there they would run it through the X-ray machine for free to make sure there was nothing in it that shouldn’t be. I always thought this was a good idea.

I believe I read that the only real case of people putting things in the candy was fairly recent and was actually the parent of the child who found it! But it isnt a bad idea I guess if you have a hospital willing to do it.

When I lived in rural areas as a kid a couple of the dads just let about 6 of us hop into the back of a pickup (oh heavens no!! RISK!!!! lol ) and cruised the dirt roads to take us to the houses out there at the various farms and such. So we still trick or treated even living 30 miles from the nearest town lol. Of course it helps when you literally know everyone in the area so they all knew about how many kids would be coming by in advance.
