Have you seen
Tonight Bea and I went to a charity event called "The Best of Delaware," which was held in the riitzy Dover Downs Casino. There were restaurants, bars, and businesses from all over this small state represented, plus a "zillion" people who paid to attend. You pay one price and are able to sample food and drink from some great local places. As we were walking around the hall, not once, but twice people came up to me and said, ""Hi, Tom." (I am Gene!)
As it turns out, there is a shop-keeper in our state capitol named Tom, who bears a very striking resemblance to me. I have seen him a couple of times at a distance, and it felt like I was looking in a mirror. After I corrected them, they were all apologetic so I was not offended. (Except one of the people was my neighbor---she had had several drinks by that time, so I can excuse her!)
SO....has this ever happened to you? Have you been mistaken for someone else? I have heard that there is a double of everyone somewhere. It just so happens that mine lives about 10 miles from me!

I've been told I look like some they know, but I've never been called by someone elses name.

You do remind me of some guy I know, ... Rick? Patrick? Now what was it?

Years ago, when I was slim (), two times (maybe three years apart) peeps said I looked like Jackie O. I definitely didn't see the resemblance myself. One time I had dark hair. Other than that, no one has thought I was someone else. As for calling me by a different name, fortunately that hasn't happened, either!

In my travels, I have been told I have a double out there. I doubt it's one of my sisters as we don't look that much alike.

In my younger years I worked for a state agency that required travel into southside Virginia. MANY times while I was there I was mistaken for another state employee (not the same agency). SOOO, one afternoon I was lunching in a McDonalds in a place called Farmville, Virginia, and I heard my voice placing an order! I looked up and it was as if I were looking in a mirror!!!! I was so taken aback that I couldn't say anything and I quickly finished my burger and left without saying a word. It was a shocking experience. To this day I wish I'd introduced myself, but alas, I've never seen her again.
