Pat Boone did a lot of covers. I think the original is much better.

In the 50s R&B music recorded by Black musicians was called "Race Music" and was thought to be unacceptable for White audiences. People like Pat Boone did covers for the White radio stations to play. The original album cover for the Chantel's LP featuring the song "Maybe" had a White couple dancing, not the Black girls in the group. Thankfully we've come a long way since then.

I think this is one of the greatest songs of the 50s. Arguably the best girl group song of the 50s.
