Default Honda HRV

A friend of mine just bought a Honda HRV. I had not even heard of them. She was driving around in a pretty old Honda Civic, so this is a nice step up for her.

She is nearing retirement, and is not rolling in a ton of cash so the purchase had to be on the economical side. Her budget did not allow a vehicle with bells and whistles and fancy interiors, but this car with AWD looks pretty nice. It's smaller than an SUV/CRV, and does not have too much HP from my quick Google search. It looks like a small economy cross over.

Sometimes I do wonder why I'm driving a vehicle as large as my Cherokee, but since Rick works for Jeep.........I have wondered what we'd buy if Rick hadn't been working for automobile dealerships all these years. Honda may have lost some of their "mojo" when it comes to performance vehicles like our S, but they do seem to still have a decent offering of vehicles?

What say you on the HRV?

Sure you don't mean HRV? Couldn't find anything with a Google search for HPV.

I've never owned an SUV, but I did look at the HRV. There is a lot of utility in that vehicle, many of the features that are also in the Fit. I like the tilt up back seat. I know that if you drive around the Villages in Florida, it seems that every 2nd car you see is a CRV. Retirees seem to like them for the ingress/egress.

If they had made them at the time, I'd probably be driving an HRV now. Instead I have a 2009 Suzuki SX4. Same concept. Small crossover. I got it during cash for clunkers -- Thanks Obama!

We just bought a CR-V touring and absolutely love it. All the bells and whistles including power tailgate. Honda sensing is fantastic. On the highway it keeps you between the lines and moves the steering wheel if you don't. Our last experience was with a 1998 CR-V that was in the family for 17 years when the transmission died at 227,000 miles. My son got $900 for it when he bought a used 2007 Accord V6 six speed. Hondas make great SUVs. When we bought the new CR-V sold our 2006 Pilot with 153,000 miles to a friend for 7k.

The HRV looks decent, it is very small and pretty much an economical SUV as you noted. The 4wd system is probably good enough for 90% of the buyers out there.

On a side note I drive a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, I have pounded the miles on it like mad, and I have not had a single defect or complaint with it. I've been very happy with my Jeep, it is very economical too yet it isn't a "tin can" type of vehicle like the real cheap ones out there. Mine is a 4 cylinder 2wd Limited, pretty comfy too.

Glad you are happy with your Jeep. I am on my second one 2014 Cherokee limited 4 wheel drive. No complaints except visibility was better in the Liberty I had previously. I also could use one more seat adjustment for height
