Default Honoring Our Veterans

Saw some buses headed for the Iwo Jima earlier and realized they were veterans in town for Honor Roll. So I went over to chat. They were from IL and WI. All services. Made me miss my dad.

The group was also going to visit the Vietnam and Korea memorials. One guy told me he had five comrades on the Wall he was going to look up. Sad...

I had the honor of being on a plane to Baltimore with a group of Honor Flight veterans. As they came thru the Cleveland airport they were applauded. Even though it was a Southwest flight we all let them board first and we filled in where we could. As I said, it was an honor to fly with these heros!!!

These are my real hero's. I detailed a Marine's vehicle today who served during the Korean war. It was a Mercury Sable with over 100K that he took a lot of a lot of pride in. I was a vet so we talked about his experiences in the Korean war and my service during the Viet Nam war. We honor all veterans both living and dead at a special ceremony at our club this Sunday.

I had five uncles serving in WWII. One was also in the Battle of the Bulge. My Dad flew cargo planes and bombers in the south seas. He was also one of the first to land in Japan after the war ended. I missed Viet Nam by the skin of my teeth and spent 14 1/2 months in South Korea.

Deb, thanks for taking the time to talk to these heroes, take the pictures, and share them. Many of us here have relatives and friends who served and paid a huge price for what we take for granted.
