Some surprising numbers from my vantage point, California so low, even Florida is low, if you can't be happy in Hawaii you may not be happy anywhere.

One problem with Hawaii is it is very expensive.

We are happy in our state. We have honest politicians who are very bi-partisan and put the interest of its citizens first. We have no sales tax and low school and property taxes. Our President lives near us at the beach and we love our beach town of Lewes.

Our Governor here in Vermont is one of the few if any politicians that I like. He is very bi-partisan and tends to do what makes sense.

Vermont is not quite the happiest.

Vermont comes in at 72.29 and Utah at 74.49.

I was surprised to learn recently how expensive electrical rates are in Hawaii, it costs about 3x as much per kw/hr compared to States on the continent.

I'm not surprised at California's 38.37. I lived there from 1958 to 2017 and am much happier in Colorado with a rating of 71.74. I will be back in California in three days and staying for 8 days. I'm not looking forward to it. People I know who still live there want out. It's become too expensive, too crowded and too noisy, for me. The weather bores me. I would never want to live in Hawaii. I like to drive 100 or more miles, sometimes, and see different scenery. I'd feel like I was in prison on an island although I loved visiting Maui and Kauai a few times.

What do you like or dislike about where you live?

I've lived in the same spot for 55 years , so a bit bored of it more than anything. Happiness is an odd thing to quantify, lots of variables go into being happy.

The best feature for me is that it is safe, a good place to raise a family. We can leave our doors and vehicles unlocked and never worry about it, despite having a population as large as New Orleans.

We have often been satisfied with our government, but I have despised our current Federal government more than ever for many reasons. I get a laugh when I hear people from "other" countries talking about emigrating to Canada, they have no idea how different it is here compared to their homeland.

I am tired of winter weather. I love visiting warm weather destinations but I don't know if I can live in hot weather region for 12 months a year ? I love spring, summer, and fall, but not winter. Inflation, taxes, and ridiculous climate related charges/taxes programs are making it hard for us, if this current government doesn't change in the next five years we will be in big trouble.
