My theory is: Now that older S2000's have become more affordable (in the $12-15K range) folks have been picking them up because they are cute, and cool to have as a daily driver (not like yours and others like Ken (Zippy) that have been "Garage Queens" all of their life. In other words: People that are the second and third generation owners are just using them as a fun daily driver and many do not truly understand what they have. Hell, even some of the original owners here bought the car because they thought that they were "cute" and did not fully understand what they had until they discovered either this web site or S2KCA.com IMHO.

I think you're probably right. I think more younger people can afford them now and are using them for daily drivers.

I already know that answer from Ms Perky (so she need not reply).
What is my answer?
Well, knowing that when you were working that you took the Metro to work, you would have not seen any/many during your commute. However, knowing where you live I am sure that you saw more than one per week. In fact, after Bettye's interment (on Friday, 8 August 2014) the family invited us to the Red, Hot & Blue on Wilson Blvd (blocks from where you live) and while Craig, Gloria and me were standing in front of the restaurant we saw a Rio driving up Wilson Blvd. So I would venture a guess that while you are out and about that you see several each week.

Correct me if I am wrong!

Hi there from the UK..Nice post idea and description!
I've been driving my Honda for only a couple of months as I was lucky enough to get my hands on a s2000 09 model (second hand of course, only 1 owner, berlina black).

I've seen only 2 both of them AP1 so before 2004 here in Europe.. I commute 25 mile close to Heathrow Airport and using m25 (London' ringroad) so pretty busy
roads but I think they are VERY RARE over here.

Even in autotrader.co.uk I can see only 23 for sale in the UK as we speak!

Outside of our local monthly GTG's, I seldom see any S2000's.

I have had my car 6 weeks and only seen one other on the road, it was a nice lady who started waving madly and said I want your car! so here in the UK they are not very common, which I like.

In Houston I see an S2000 about every other day; sometimes more often. While in Durango these last weeks I saw five different S2000s from La Plata County and from out of state. This week I towed my S back to Houston on a farm hauler. I kept looking into my Jeep's rear view mirror and seeing some yellow S2000 right on my back door! Damned tailgaters!!

I drive the S most days to work in the spring/summer/fall and very rarely see another one. I think I've seen three this year. I wave but I get the "I don't know you look". I drive through Andover, North Andover and I see Porsche's all the time and the same ones. I see a Maserati on a regular basis and an occasional Ferrari. From time to time I see an awesome black Bentley - not sure of the model.
