I want to do that after a long fulfilling life when I'm diagnosed with something terminal.

What a shame. These cars and others like them are insanely fast and the average driver cant handle all that power.

I have never had the desire for straight line speed that some do. I've never been to an official drag racing course. Although when younger after just getting the license in dad's Pontiac . . . But that was then; I have no interest in car's like that. If I won one I would turn around and sell it for one that had speed in the corners.

I remember when the Hellcat was first released that some kid up in Colorado wrecked it right out dealer parking lot. Became a internet meme sensation.

I am completely against most nanny state things .. but I think cars sold from a dealer like the Hellcat should require training and a driving test to purchase. Like some have said, 99.99% of drivers have no idea what they are doing with that much power.

Why? Because according to a AAA study, 85% percent of American drivers consider themselves about average drivers? Let that sink in for a minute.

I could not agree more. As a former general aviation pilot one has to prove one's ability first flying in single engine low performance planes then advancing to single engine high performance planes, then on to low performance twin engines, etc, and so on and so forth.

Back in the 70's when Doug Toms was the the Secretary of Transportation he actually proposed a "Master Driver's License" . Where as people that could prove their ability would be able able to obtain a "Master Driver's License" that would allow them to drive above the posted speed limit.

As a two time graduate from the Skip Barbara School where I got to drive a Viper (the second time in 2001) I agree. My first reaction to driving the Viper was "there is no logical reason for this car ". But it is FUN.

I will take this discussion one step further: In most states one can obtain a motorcycle drivers license on a 50 CC scooter. And then go an buy a street legal "Super Bike" that can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in a little over two seconds, and is capable of almost two hundred miles per hour.

I remember my Dad telling about a bomber pilot (he was one) that jumped in a fighter plane, took off and flew it into the ground. Like Matt said, you have to work up to these things.
