it was a last minute compromise.
I'm not sure if it is a joke, but I heard my nephew and his bride are thinking of going that right, her surname - his surname.....I pity the poor kids they may have. Neither of the surnames are easy ones to pronounce or spell....

For reasons I won't go into here, I kept my ex's surname for about six months after I married my +1. He didn't care, but it caused a bit of for some folks.

So far, I've kept my ex's last name, with my maiden name as my middle name. I haven't been with him in 14 years. I probably would just keep it if the +1 and I get married. Have to see how he feels about it. I've used it for so long, it's just a pain to change everything. I'm not that hung up on names. I don't have any problem being called Mrs. (+1's last name) unofficially, although it would sound strange after all this time. A few peeps have referred to me as his wife. May as well be.

Talk about a moment. When I saw this thread I was reminded of

five to the first person who identifies the above distinguished personage.

Myra kept her last name and I kept mine

Both on second marriage. Myra went to maiden name when got divorced. Of her two children one kept dad's last name and the other changed her last name to Myra's maiden name. My kids kept my last name, until one got married and then she changed her last name to husband's name.

When older relatives write to us they use just one of our last names not putting both names down, and usually they use mine.

Hyphenated names seems so old school...

When I divorced, part of the agreement I insisted on was she take back her last name, there was no way I wanted her walking around with my family name!

Why that is none other than Leonard Pinth-Garnell (Dan Aykroyd of course).

"Why that was just exquisitely awful, wasn't it?"

Mr. Pinth-Garnell, for the uninitiated, plied his reviews of "Really Bad Plays", "Really Bad Books", etc on Saturday Night Live.

and for Lainey for being the first to name Dan.

When the +1 and I married, she made her maiden name her middle name because she didn't have a middle name.
My first wife kept my name after the divorce, then remarried, divorced, and has kept her last spouse's last name. Common, I guess.
