You could have bruised the ribs without breaking them.
The downside is that doesn't mean they won't hurt. a lot.

She mentioned her helmet got scratched.

Patty - you said you broke your left humerus then later mentioned your right shoulder and arm were bruised. So you have issues on both sides? Ugh...

No, Deb. I should read my posts more carefully. Only my left arm is bruised and very swollen. My helmet had no scratches on it. I'm in the orthopedic surgeon's office and so far it's an hour and 10 minutes past the appointment time, waiting.

The nurse came in and showed me and my son the x-rays and said it was the ice cream scoop fell off the cone, injury.

I saw the surgeon and am now waiting for the surgery date...
