If it is her house, she can do what she wants. If you both own it?

In the summer of 2003, AK wanted to put in granite throughout our Acton house including three bathrooms and the kitchen. He found what he liked and I liked it too. It was unusual and colorful. Much later, I decided it looked lousy with the cabinets. Of course, the border wallpaper wasn't much better. I wonder if the man who bought the house in 2017 changed out the cabinets. I moved out in March 2008 so it was changed a lot after that.

We always decide together on our cars and most other things. We call it compromise. Our formula for 51 years of marriage.

We jointly own our house(s) of course. First time I saw the house we're in now was the day before we closed on it. We selected and paid for our separate cars all by ourselves. No agreement or compromise or even discussion is necessary for most purchases as long as we're paying from our own funds.

^That makes sense. When I was married (for 23 years) everything was joint ownership as we married when we were 26 years-old. I've been divorced/single for about 12 years and own two homes and four cars. I may ask for my friend's and family's opinions but I never have to compromise. My then-husband came home one day and told me he bought a new seat for his truck since I hated the bench. He took me outside to show me and it was a new truck, altogether. I was a tad upset that he didn't include me in the decision and that was the first of many truck purchases. He had a fleet of trucks for his business and I just hoped to have a say in the color of the one he used with the family. He was a Ford man then and still is as far as trucks go. Hondas for me, obviously.

There you go. The best of both worlds.

We did the kitchen last year. It's coming up on just about a year since completion. We still have no shades by the kitchen sink window and have the $2.99 Home Depot paper shades and tape by the sliding door.

She wants to get some new furniture in the living room now that we have a new TV. I'm OK with it, but want to get old projects completed before we start new ones. So when she brings up the living room, I head down this path:

Me: Let's get the shades for the kitchen done before we work on another project?
Her: When do you want to go shopping?
Me: Why do I need to go, what I say doesn't matter does it?
Her: Nope. You're right.
Me: Ok, so, when are you going shopping?

Quick Reply: I can't believe she did it.
