What a voice! Enjoyed her but didn't appreciate her in my youth. Listen more than once to the range.

Yep. At the diner you put quarter in the slot and listened to Connie sing.

Not likely... more likely it was Debbie doing Tammy:

Yep, it was Debbies song. Last night I listened to them back to back and I think Connies voice is superior ( just personal preference )

My favorite female singers were Linda Rondstadt and Judy Collins.

I remember seeing Judy Collins sing at the Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park. It was great. But then we went to see her a couple of years ago in Tarrytown, NY and while her voice was still nice, I couldn't take how self absorbed she was. She hawked her book and bragged about how Stephen Stills wrote Suite Judy Blue Eyes to woo her back and how it didn't work. Ruined my listening to her music.

Shame Linda Ronstadt can't sing now.

After I took my newspaper route money and bought a GE "trimline" flip down portable record player in summer of 1962, a 33-1/3 rpm of Connie Francis' Greatest Hits was one of the first record albums that I bought. My dad was pissed that I had spent some "college money" on something "fun"....

I may still have it in the 10% of my old albums that I have kept; most of them were worth nothing and went out in the trash

Brenda Lee also had a powerful voice I loved from that era.
