Gee, that's a shame, Rob. I'd be pretty livid too if they told me to cool my heels for that long. Bogus.

First off, if you weren't aware (didn't see it mentioned in the thread), the TL-s and CL-s have faulty transmissions. There was a recall a while back on the oil jet that was supposed to fix it. If the problem is what I think (lurching, downshifting, christmas tree of lights in the dash), you need a new tranny so expect the car to be at the dealer at least a full week.

Second, thats awful that the Acura dealer said that. Don't get the impression they are all like that though. I live close to three dealers and have used all of them on multiple occasions for my CL type S, and they have all been great.

If I were you I'd call and have them tow the car in, and bring you a loaner. Even if it is for two weeks, they should cover it.

I'm sure that is exactly what the problem is. Remarkably, about two months ago I had the car in for the transmission recall. They told me that they had attended to it and that I'd have no problems with my transmission. I am convinced that they didn't do a proper job on the recall.

I will call them in the morning and ask to have the car towed in and for a loaner, but I doubt that I'll get to first base.

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I don't think all Acura dealers are like this. Too many of you have said you get good service from your dealers. I used to get good service here as well. I just think that this dealer, Acura of Denville, has turned sour. I am disappointed, however, that Acura Corporate didn't do more to help. And I am surprised that neither of the other two dealers that I call have called me back.

Rob,
This is complete B.S.
If they don't agree to tow the car in today and bring you a loaner here's what I would do....tomorrow,mid-day, I would have the car towed in, I would go into the showroom and in front of as many customers as possible I would raise holy hell. Remind them (in a very loud voice) of their loaner car promises and demand to know how they dare blow you off for 2 weeks and if this is the service Acura provides you will be telling everyone you know never to buy one (starting with those in the showroom). I'm sure the sales manager will get you some results.

Unfortunately I have to be out of town tomorrow, but this is a very good idea for Monday. I think I'll try it. Thanks

That is EFFECTIVE when there are potential customers about. I did that once on a bedroom set that we were very dissatisfied with. It worked. They came and picked up the whole set at no cost and gave me a total refund.

Rob,

I wonder if it is a good idea for some of us to actually call the dealership and voice our concern for our fellow S2K owner who is not being treated properly at that dealership. That would show that it is in their best interest to keep their promise and do the right thing. There is some measure of strength in united voice of many. I thought I would ask.

^ Interesting thought. Strength in numbers. We could tie up their phone lines too.

Rob, I think you are being treated badly, but I have a thought. Not to make excuses, but since it's summer, they may have a mechanic who is trained in their transmission work and he is on vacation till the 10th. Since Liz didn't mention the problem, that may be why she got an appointment earlier. If I am right, and they work on your car too soon, you may be getting a service guy not as experienced.
I think I would call the other dealers again, and forget about these guys. Or maybe you should tell them that your wife's uncle is "connected", since you live in New Jersy that could be very possible. You'll have Uncle Vinny bring in your car for same-day service.

Thank you everyone. John, that's not a bad idea and I may ask for some help on Monday depending on how my next call to them goes.

Dean, one of my colleagues had the same thought. I can understand that, but if that is the case, they should at least let me use a loaner until I get my car back. When I bought the car I was told that there would always be a loaner at my disposal.

I hope I don't have to fight to get them to do the work as warranty work. I suspect that they're going to try to get out of that too.

I would tell them about my wife's uncle Vinny (actually Uncle Wong) but the story is that the dealerships in New Jersey are all mob connected anyway.
