And you probably did that regardless of whether the vehicle was a high or low commission vehicle. That is exactly how it should be.

The problem is that you were (are) one of the few car salespeople who believed (believes) in treating the customer with respect.

Good customer service starts at the top of any organization. I believe there are lots of people who would like to provide better customer service than their system allows them to. I have found that the outfits that brag about it are generally not as good as those who simply provide it.

I spent a good deal of my career in middle management of a so-called customer service department at a major energy company. I watched as management cutout training programs, double workloads, cut back staff, and took the position that perception is reality - so just make them think they are getting good service. Dozen and dozen's of employees would complain to me that we were not treating customers properly. Upper management didn't care as their goal was to make themselves rich and satisfy the stockholders. Customers were just the revenue stream to that end and nothing more.

The two biggest lies in most company's bag of BS are (1) The Customer is King and (2) The Employees are our Biggest Asset.

Rob,

After re-visiting this thread and re-reading your comment. I believe that you are correct. I learned a long time ago that the mind like a parachute works only when open. I will use our example here. As much as you and I have disagreed on many views, I do believe that I have always treated you with respect.

Even in spite of our differences in opinion, I consider you a friend. Largely, because we both respect our right to agree to disagree.

I sometimes choose NOT to reply to your post, because I sometimes feel if I state it is black, you will claim that it is white just to stir the pot. For what it is worth, I do not reply because I feel that you have made your point better than I have. In other words, you have not always won the right to call "Touche". It is just that sometimes, I see no point in debating you to the point of ruining our friendship. We have accepted and come to terms that we come from very different places (even though we where born on the same day four blocks apart in the same neighborhood). But, I hate to see us alienate other people in the process.

Best regards,
Matt

Now how about that stinking car, Rob? Have you pushed it over a cliff yet? Or told Julie where to stuff it? I'm ready for some conflict here!

Actually I called her up first thing Monday morning and told her about the vibration. She let out a disgusted sigh. I told her that I couldn't bring the car in this week but that I wanted it fixed next week. She relpied that, "Any time you are around just bring it in." What a change.

The car is running real well except for the vibration. I'm kind of disgusted with Acura of Denville, among other things, and I really don't want to deal with them. Next week I'll fight again.
