Ugh! I went up. 185.9. No good explanation. Maybe I already hit my first plateau.

My ankles were swelling with water. I have a bit of heart failure. The day after having taken some lasix there was a surprise waiting for me. I guess water weighs a lot.

Yesterday I slept late (yay), went on the treadmill and elliptical, and then spent the day resting on the couch. I had a salad for lunch and then a small steak for dinner. Overall I felt better by the end of the day. I think I'm getting over the cold.
184.1 this morning!! Yippee. I dropped past 185.
I hit the machines again this morning. 12 minutes on the elliptical and 33 minutes on the 'mill for 45 total aerobic minutes.
Today I'm going to clean up a couple of rooms in the house, watch the game for sure, and maybe work on some fishing gear. I have not taken any cold medicine so far today.

I have no height to spare!!! At one point I was measured to be 4'11" which mean a loss of 1". We get shorter and more plump as we age...gravity takes over, muscle mass lessens, is a biatch!
Scale was the same today as yesterday but I pushed the envelope with a bowl of popcorn WITH butter last night. Will have to watch myself this weekend.

In the big picture, who cares? I know you do but why? Did you miss out on winning the lottery because of it? Did you lose a leg because of it? Does someone you love now think less of you because of it? Your range in all of January is 4.5 pounds. You're still about 7 pounds lighter than two weeks ago. That's pretty good, isn't it? I think so. I mean, I understand wanting to go down in weight because I do and I'm trying, also. I'd be happy to be under 150 pounds. But, then, I'm happy to be under 170 pounds which I wasn't a few months ago.
Here's something I learned from my mom by observing her actions. She was always 10 or 20 pounds heavier than she wanted to be. She wasn't obese in my eyes and she got around fine and loved photography, but she was always unhappy with her weight. I loved her no matter what. I never saw her any differently. I knew her. In my eyes she wasted time and emotions on being unhappy because of her weight. I saw her pass up fun opportunities because she didn't want us to see her body (boating/camping/vacation). I understand how she felt but I'm trying not to do the same.
Here's another thought. Is there anyone you admire, love or respect that is chubby or fat? If so, would it make any difference to YOU if they weren't? Would you change your opinion about them?
Conversely, what if someone you love, admire or respect put on 20 pounds? Would it make you change your opinion about them? I imagine you'd worry a bit and wonder what caused the gain.
My intention here is to share a point of view. I hope to help.

All good points, Patricia. The fact is our bodies do change with age. We get mushy, our metabolism slows down. We just can't eat/drink like we used to and still say thin. So how often do we pass up the things we enjoy? Obsessing or worrying about 5-10 or 20 pounds (if one is healthy) seems kind of silly. I still do it, but I'm not working that hard on it.
I'm hoping less sitting and more moving helps me once I retire.
