Legal Bill can do the brake job and avoid a recommendation.

My 2 cents: I would look for a used car rather than new. For the same price you could get a 2 year old car fully optioned, or a way better, more expensive (originally) one. Just look out for salvage titles. For some reason our area has tons of salvaged Corollas, when I was looking for one for my sister.

I agree. I bought a 3 year old Civic LX with 19K miles on it a few years ago for $11,500. The previous owner paid $17500. Car has been flawless, only recently needing front brake pads and rotors at close to 70K miles. We recently picked up an Accord Coupe EXL-V6 with 30K miles for $12300. It stickered for over $30K! (It was almost 8 years old, but in very nice shape)

If it doesn’t have any rot and all the suspension pieces are still good and he has kept up with changing the timing belt then it should be good for at least another 50k.

^ Decided the cost was going to be too high, so the son is out test driving a Fit. See what happens...

Looks like a 2015 Toyota Corolla is going to be it. Working the details on financing, etc.

I agree. Now Bill doesn't have to do the brakes.
