My doc is one of the top in the state and tells me I have a very slow growing type cancer that almost never spreads. So we are just watching it right now. In 2019 I may undergo a new type of MRI that will purportedly show exactly where the cancer cells are, and will determine for sure whether it is staying put. The cells are in the tissue surrounding where the prostate was. It's always a crap shoot whether the cancer cells are contained in the prostate, or have spread outside it, and then how much tissue should be removed. That tissue has nerves within that determine other functions like E.D. and bladder control. Too much, you lose in these areas, too little, you risk leaving bad cells behind. Before surgery, lots of discussion takes place (or should) with your doctor to determine the level of risk the patient wants to take. Right now I don't lose any sleep over knowing I have cancer. Chances are good I'll kick the bucket from something else.

ps- I may have some terminology, or pathology above mixed up. Please pardon.
I'm glad to hear you are holding it at bay. Best of luck. My Father-in-law had it for years and never had surgery.

sort of like nitroglycerine but I don;t think that would help you drop off.

So I'm all hooked up to the sleep study equipment. It is all uncomfortable. A tight chest strap with a sensor that measures my chest movement, a finger cuff, probably for heart rate and a cannula in my nose, I guess to measure my breathing through my nose. The cannula lines are taped to my face and the wire for the finger cuff is taped to my hand and arm. Should be a great night's sleep!

And yes, this thread will remain worthless without pics.

Thanks Deb. My guess is I will receive a diagnosis followed by a prescription for equipment that will keep me awake as much as the insomnia. What I really need to do is lose weight. I think 1/2 of all prescriptions are the result of being overweight.

I think I did better with the sleep test gear than I have with the CPAP.
I really have to follow up or dump the gear.

Which model did you get? My brother-in-law is recommending a unit referred to as an APAP that adjusts to your breathing and provides only the pressure needed to keep you breathing. He said his old CPAP was a pain to use nd kept him up at night and didn't really make him fee any better. The APAP works like charm for him and he feels much better now.
