I'm 65 and have full coverage on my Acura and S for about $1000/year, both cars. That's in metro Phoenix, where the traffic is wild and wooly, and the car thieves work overtime. The Acura actually is the more expensive of the two, because it gets driven more miles.
That really is a great rate for the Phoenix area. I know insurance in AZ is usually very expensive. My bro lives in Mesa also, Prof, so I visit fairly often.

Sorry to mis-attribute, Prof. I went looking for the thread where I read your original post and couldn't find so was going from memory (a danger for this Vintage owner).

Even though this subject seems to be already covered: I am 50+, no tickets or accidents since I was 17. I have had the same insurance company and agent for 25 years. I pay $1050/yr. While my other vehicles cost less, which include the standard Accord, Ford truck, they are in line with the $1k number discounting for less value due to age. From all the posts the it seems that the S2K isn't all that high, but has more to do with the circumstances (location, etc.) surrounding the insured. No, I am not an insurance agent.

PS: Mr. Grammar, feel free to correct the above for syntax or whatever (except factual content) since I am always willing to have my education advanced. I am engineer, I am use it. See age reference.

It seems that everyone divulging their insurance premiums here has pretty good driving records. Mine, unfortunately, is not the best. My MY '04 is due in about a month, and I haven't gotten any quotes yet. Maybe I should be preparing for a shock.

Wow, you "mature" drivers pay a lot for insurance. I guess a lot does depend on where you live and circumstances. I'm 25 years old, car is insured as a rec. vehicle, I'm single with a spotless driving record. I cut and pasted from Geico's website what I pay every six months...

Coverage Limit Deductible Premium

2000 HONDA S2000
COLLISION N/A $1,000 DED. $94.00
COMPREHENSIVE N/A $1,000 DED. $38.00
BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $25,000/$50,000 N/A $49.20
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $25,000 N/A $38.80
UNDERINSURED MOTORIST $25,000/$50,000 NON-DEDUCTIBLE $20.00
UNDERINSURED MOTORIST
PROPERTY DAMAGE $15,000 NON-DEDUCTIBLE $14.40

Premium Total: $254.40

I just went back and looked at my coverage...I thought your state might have more to do with that premium but it appears to be mostly your low coverage. My big diffs are in the bodily injury and uninsured motorists categories - both are $100,000/$300,000.

Prof, I just got an AARP mailer about the Hartford policy... wondering if I should get a rate check. My Allstate coverage is simliar to Tomcatt's... runs about $1200/year...

I've also got Allstate HO coverage on primary and weekend houses, and a $1M Umbrella policy, which covers over ride on the other two (I think that's correct.... any insurance experts out there )
