It's good I don't have this kind of money

I sold my Z8 during the shock tower dome and splay scare.
BMW abandoned its owners of its halo car and tried to make them buy an expensive retrofit kit to prevent the aluminum suspension structure from bending.
Bought a 996 Turbo and a new large John Deere Tractor and backhoe with the money. Very happy I did as I use the tractor/hoe all the time. Turbo is gone now too.
The S2000 is more involving and satisfying than either to drive.
I think I'd rather have a 360 Modena manual than the Z8 having sampled both, but it's nice to dream.

If I can throw in my two cents? At Spring Fling when we had the track day at Beaver Run near Cranberry PA. Keith MacDonald who races his Ferrari 360 Modena was kind enough to take me for a couple of "hot laps" around the Beaver Run Circuit. Of course Keith could pass all of us down the main straight with his torque and HP, I was really impressed that the S2000 did not really give anything up to the Ferrari on the twisty parts of the track. If I recall correctly T8 is a a 38* degree right hander before heading into the hair pin. He would go through that turn at about 118 MPH and I was going through there at 115 MPH. Perhaps if I had drank Noxon for breakfast that morning I may have been able to make up that 3 MPH? My point is that on the twisty parts of the track the S2000 did not give up anything to the Ferrari. Talk about the "most bang for the buck"
There was a great photographer there that weekend. Here's one of me leading (or was that about to get passed?) It didn't matter; it was all fun.

Dave I was in the same situation about 2004 when I tracked my S2000. I had a semi-pro drive me around the track first in a supercharged S, and I soon realized that I was not the driver I thought I was.
still had fun in the slow group, passing the Miatas.,

In my case, I wasn't a passenger, I was trying to follow him to learn the line. I've been a passenger on race tracks before - - that's truly scary; but then my wife scares me when I'm a passenger.

I am a terrible passenger. It's the only thing the +1 gets very irritated with me about. I just can't sit there without making comments. Bad MsP.

During a Porsche Prime Experience I was being shown the track as a passenger.by an SCCA hot shoe hired by Porsche
During a high speed, decreasing radius, trailing throttle, sweeper I wondered if perhaps I hadn't wondered into the wrong place.

I don't have the same wistful lust for this as I do for the Z8 but it is a pretty car.

How do people own cars for 17 years and put only 9k miles on them?
