Jaguar Factory Tour 1961

If you enjoy seeing how cars used to be made and have not seen this before you have a 1/2 hour of enjoyment.

I thought this was a fascinating tour. The best I’ve ever seen of a British car car manufactuer in that time period. No safety glasses or hard hats, only a few wore gloves. The constant inspections, the balancing and rebalancing that went into every engine. Sure it was a PR piece but you can really see how labor-intense the process was from the engine manufacturing operation, assembly line, paint shop (you’ll smile when you see that) to the body and trim installations, and final test drives.

What a time warp from the font used in the credits to the music, to the content. Very interesting film, none the less.

Also stunning to look at how differently things are done now.
I don't think i saw a torque wrench once. Everything was tightened to " yup that feels right."

I'd like to think those guns were calibrated, but whoi knows...

The closing comments about Jaguar being well positioned for the future were poignant.

If you want to waste some serious time...

Amazing video! That level of individual human craftsmanship will prolly never be seen again --- on any production car. Reminds me of those old RCA vacuum tube manufacturing videos from the 1950s.

:)
