Default The Last Open Road

Since I spent so many years hanging out at the vintage sports car events around the country I think by now most sports car lovers know of BS Levy and his books. But maybe not. So just in case I thought I would share a little background on his latest project due out in July. I have personally signed edition #1 of all of his books except the last one or two. I've been hooked every since I bought his first, The Last Open Road, at its introduction - - which as best can recall was at the Glen; or maybe it was a Elkhart Lake. Here's some background on that.

To give you a taste of his writing here's his latest project teaser. Listening to it at the PC doesn't do a lot for me (I'm not sure I like the voice of the lead character) but if I were driving across the country I could really enjoy hearing the story.

I'm a fan. Enjoyed the first 3, but lost some interest in the later books.

Burt is a character. When we had All Car Club Christmas parties here in the Chicago suburbs back in the '90s and through 2006, Burt attended in all of his glory (that being his lovely and personable wife). His glory would always have to do the driving home. For about 6 years, Burt and I would instruct for the Great Lakes Lotus Club events at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. He would run the first classroom session and the trackside commentary. Except at his exhibition booth at the BRIC and the IndyCar events at Road America, I have not even had a beer with him in, say, 5 years.

I, too, thought that the first book was great but I stopped buying them after the third.

We do not have any cars without the Last open Road decals or licence late surrounds. In my Vintage racing crew days all the Porsche’s had them as well. I have all the books and plan to get the Audiobook for those long road trips when I need a break from music on Sirius
