If you end up with a scar, maybe we can have a contest to pick out a tattoo design to "enhance" it.

Lots of good wishes above, and while I like to reply individually, let me just say thank you for all the support. It is very much appreciated.

Jerry, not bacterial. It is a cholesterol granuloma:

Mine is quite large.

The doc says they hide the incision in your hair. (pause here for laughter) The incision is S shaped, starting about a half inch above the top of the ear, then following the outline of the ear about halfway down and then turning towards the back of my head a few inches.

Are you going to give them a stencil of the S2000 S for the incision?

wow, stunned response, I have very high cholesterol and many granulomas. mostly in the fingers and Achilles.
I never thought of them as anything but annoying lumps.

I'm pulling hard for you, Bill. Will you post here a little before you actually go in to Mass Eye & Ear?

Bill, having to wait is good. Means they do a lot, and that's the kind of experience you want. When I had my prostatectomy, I had one of the two top docs at UCSF, and he does them all day long. You will be fine, but I still wish you the best.
