^We're only going to be there for one day, in March, as we will be leaving for a cruise. We arrive at 7am and plan to explore the city that day. We'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Express - Time Square. I'm sure we'll be back but what do you recommend as a must see in one day?

75. Barclay Center. A brand new arena in downtown Brooklyn. Originally slated to be the home of the Brooklyn Nets and concerts, it now (temporarily) also hosts the New York Islanders hockey. I finally got there a few weeks ago to see the New York Islanders play the New Jersey Devils. I don't think Barclay Center is quite as nice as Madison Square Garden or the Prudential Center (home of the New Jersey Devils) in Newark, but it is nice enough. The amazing thing about the Barclay Center is what it's helped to do for downtown Brooklyn.

When I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn, downtown became old, tired and a bit of a no man's land. Today, its been reborn with new stores and lots of people. Part of the rebirth has to do with the real estate prices in Manhattan which are forcing young people to move to surrounding areas, but some if it has to do with the opening of things like the Barclay Center.

I have heard that the acoustics are really, really good there. It's supposed to be a great arena for concerts. Barbra Streisand is giving a concert there later in the Spring. I'm going to try to get tickets.

In any event, if you find yourself on the other side of the Manhattan Bridge or the Brooklyn Bridge, near Flatbush or Atlantic Avenues, stop into the Barclay Center and watch the Brooklyn Nets play basketball or the New York Islanders play hockey. Before you go in, walk a couple of blocks to Flatbush and DeKalb and have lunch at Juniors. Take home the best cheesecake in the world.

You don't want to pass up the $300k toilets. New York's most luxurious public restroom just got a $300,000 makeoverby Jackie Wattles @jackiewattlesApril 28, 2017: 3:02 PM ET

New York has plenty of opulence. In Manhattan, you can order up a $1,000 ice cream dish at Serendipity 3, shell out $7,500 for a bottle of champagne at a nightclub, or spend $75,000 to stay in an extravagant penthouse hotel suite.

But for visitors to Bryant Park, which is nestled between Midtown skyscrapers just beyond the New York Public Library, a certain level of luxury is free to enjoy in a place where you'd least expect it: a public restroom. The park has long been home to a lavish public restroom, but it just became even more lavish thanks to a $300,000 upgrade that was unveiled at a toilet tissue "ribbon" cutting ceremony on Thursday.
