This booming market can't last forever and I thought we needed to adjust a portion of our retirement savings into more conservative options and have done so.

Yeah, I think I have to finally make the move. Probably shift the balance 20% to bonds/cash.

Riding the wave. I probably have a bit more time than most in here to recover if needed.

As for the Europe comment. I have a small portion of my 401K in a EU Fund, and its up 26% this year. Another International fund I'm in is up 22% this year. Not too bad.

^ Definitely not bad! I have very little in international and it's up a little over 6% YTD. Looking that up is the first time I've even looked at my funds in 3 months - - guess I don't worry too much about it since I am so conservative.

Rebalanced as of today. I moved about 15% out of US equities. I moved less into bonds than I thought I would. Added a bit to international.

Well, I have major news on one of my investment portfolios. My long-time advisor was terminated from the investment firm. A big shock and a sad situation since he is also a personal friend of many years. Obviously, I'm not identifying the firm or the person. Official reasons for the termination are murky (they usually are in these cases), but I've been able to learn more in the weeks since. I have decided to separate my personal and business relationship and will not be moving my account to wherever he lands. Remains to be seen whether the personal relationship survives. Unfortunately, in the investment business, whether an advisor has been terminated for cause or not, s/he is usually poison to any other company, at least for awhile. So am not sure what the future holds on either front. As of now, I am keeping my account with the same firm and a different advisor. Meeting with him today to go over my portfolio and get a feel for him and his recommended changes. I have trusted my advisor to do right by me. I don't have any direct evidence (yet) that he has not, but I think now I will have to be more actively involved. I may also move some of my investments from the current company to another investment company where I also have an account. To be determined...

Wow, Deb, that must have been a real shock to you!

^ No, it won't, at least not from the business side. My plan is to focus on the future and not dwell too much on what may have happened in the past, although there will be some discussion of that today.

Wow... That's a situation I hope to never be in.

Does bring up a question-- Do most of you provide actual access to accounts for your brokers/advisors/planners to do things or retain that access solely for yourself/+1? I've chosen to keep access to myself.
