How conservative is too conservative?

Don't be fooled. Wall Street, not Main Street, is the big tax winner - Jan. 14, 2018

^This is why I have not moved that last 10% that I was going to rebalance. Still sitting with about 70% in stocks (60% domestic, 10% foreign). The other 30% is in bonds and cash. My plan is to move 10% out of stocks and into equities for a 60-40 mix. In all honesty, I'd be more comfortable at 50-50. But not yet... Watching... watching... watching...

I really like hearing Apple's latest announcement due to the tax law change to accelerate moving operations to the USA, paying a one-time $38B tax, and creating 20k jobs. I'm a big fan of their products and the wife has a few shares of their stock. In spite of several articles just yesterday warning of a plunge in the market, it was a nice day at the end.

I'm at 50/50 roughly due to my age - I be old. The +1 is at 70/30. He's about your age, LB.

Well, I know that professional planners focus on the investor's age. And I certainly keep that in mind when I look at my balance. But I'm putting more weight on buy-sell opportunities. And sell is getting closer every day. I can almost see it. Watching....

I had a call in to our investment/account person so I could do a little re-balancing. We were supposed to speak earlier this week, but she had a sick child. So I made a few dollars yesterday and we spoke today. I had one fund she had suggested I might want to take and move the $ into a conservative investment so we did that today. It wasn't a large holding. We are around 50/50. I'm comfortable where we are, though sometimes I think we should be 60/40. With 60 being the conservative portion of the $. If there is a dip, I won't panic. I've taken a fair amount of what we have earned and re-balanced, so we'd have time to recover from a dip.

Market is down quite a bit in the past two days. Is this part of the anticipated correction?
