Plans are to get the LG. Good ratings. Wife doesn't mind the beep songs (heard on youtube). We are happy with our other three LG appliances - frig., washer, dryer. I just use the online reviews as a starting point; actually there are lots of good reviews as well as bad.

I own two GEs and would replace with same if the controls are similar. Those LG controls you describe would not make me happy, Dave.

Well Bill, some live in the past and others move on. In any case, this is what we bought: https://www.lg.com/us/cooking-applia...microwave-oven
Its hard to argue with the high ratings and reviews at the bottom of the link; and, we are aware of the issues mention in the few low ratings. Happy wife / happy life.

You give good advice Bill. I have to eat my words.

We returned the LG today because the sensors did not work on the very first try to use them. An error code showed up. I called LG and they said to return it. We replaced it with a GE from Best Buy that is almost exactly like the one we've had for 11 years, It too has sensors but everything else, like the key board, etc. is what we are used to. The LG really was complicated by comparison.
