Good luck Zippy. I don't envy you one little bit.
Problem is I don't know who will shovel the drive Oh well I guess I will be paying this year.

While I am a bit anxious (as to being cut open), the sooner I start to get better, the sooner I will be better.

OK I'm an engineer not a Doctor but more importantly I've been a patient... and have gone under the knife and drill a half dozen times or so.

so the honest response is, it's gonna hurt like hell for while. The first week the most.
But if your having your knee done I suspect that is already true. so we can call that a wash.
But the difference is the pain from surgery will slowly subside over 4-6 weeks as tissue heals, and the bones knit in around the implants.
and don't forget that they have drugs for that. avoid the opiates if you can.

and if you're in the wheelchair in the hospital and waiting in the hallway to go home, don't try doing wheelies and fall over and whack your knee.
They won't give you any more pain meds if they are sending you home. don't ask me how I know, I just do.

Ken, I had this knee replacement (current version with adhesive). It was very painful as has been said,, and stubborn rehab is absolutely required. But after healing it works extremely well. They will check it with X-rays every couple of years, so far it has been stable, and the range of motion is almost as good as before. Good luck with the surgery. You will be fine!

Good one, Gene. And LB.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery, Ken. My mom just had one done and after some initial concerns she is delighted...and she's 87.

No, not now. Take the smart phone with you. Get one of the nurses to get some glamour shots of the knee area during surgery.
