Default Morgan Enters The 21st Century

The first brand-new Morgan in many a decade leaps out of its mouldering tradition with a stunning new design. Altho I've only seen the pictures in the Nov. Car & Driver, it looks stunning! The overall shape reminds me of a swoopy automobile from the '30s, a Bugatti, I believe. Morgan has managed to somehow retain the upright grill look of the trad. British sports car, yet keep the hood low. Even the "separate fenders & running board" philosophy prevails, as well as an "old British club" cockpit. It's under 2500lbs, only 3-4in. longer than our car, and features a BMW V8 of 268cu.i. and 282hp.

Now, the only problem would seem to be scaring up $95,000.

[ Say, if Morgan can shoehorn a V8 into such a small roadster, why can't Honda? This Morgan Aero 8 has a 50% - 50% weight distribution, by the way, and weighs 300lb. less than the S.]

I've seen the Aero 8 in person - Mr Morgan took it on the Gumball 3000 last year, which passed through Dallas. Despite it being an ugly powder blue color, I liked the car. (The Dewalt colors from the 24 Heurs du Mans would be sweet. ) Completely different from anything on the road today, a great modern interpretation of the old classic Mogan lines, and plenty of performance. (Oh, well, except for the fact that the tail is too droopy for my tastes. Completely anti-aggressive in a bad way.)

The Aero 8 looks interesting but a bit much for my tastes. Maybe in person I would find it more appealing.

I'd love to have a Plus 8 Turbo in my garage or even a 40 year old Morgan.

The headlight treatment would take some getting used to, I think, but it is a very original and distinctive looking design. Looks a bit Jaguar-esque to me, but only a little.
