That's a major milestone. Congrats to them. My dad died one week before my parents' 69th anniv.

Mom was a snowbird who finally "landed" in upstate New York for high school. She met my dad, they fell in love and eloped to Royal Oak, Michigan, where they were able to obtain a marriage license without needing their parents' consent. (Mom was 18 and Dad was 19. This June, my sibs and I plan to visit Mom and Dad in Delaware for their 70th anniversary.
Dad worked his tail off to keep food on the table, a roof overhead, and the wolf from the door. But Mom was the glue, the emotional mainstay of our family. Happy Mothers' Day, Mrs Young, and to all the other wonderful moms out there.

My dad worked hard, too. My mom did her best.
My mom was married 3 times, my dad 4 times (twice to the same one: #3, and #1 and #3 were step-sisters). My grandmothers were both married at least twice. I thought I'd only be married once and so far it's happened that way, even though I'm divorced and have no plans to marry again.

I spent part of the last two weeks in MA preparing for my mom's 100th birthday party in August. The venue is set and the guest list is 90% done. It's a bit sad that a lot of family and friends of her's are no longer alive. It gave her a sad moment when we discussed the guest list.
Here she is at a birthday party for one of the new (3 yrs) children in the family last fall.

^ Yeah, a sad reality of living to such an advanced age. What a milestone!! Amazing...my best wishes to her. My ex-MIL is about to turn 102! My late ex-FIL and she used to hit the scotch pretty hard. I guess it didn't matter, at least in her case.

Proof, Deb, that good genes can trump bad habits sometimes.

My Mother's Day flower delivery girl. God's reward for raising teenagers. Grandchildren. Her brother and parents had to be at a soccer game.
