I think dogs are ball dogs or they aren't. Kyras, my most bitchin German Shepherd, ever, was a full-on 100% ball crazy pooch. We'd go to motorcycle desert off-road races, and he'd not only chase his own, but he'd come back with three tennis balls in his long German Shepherd jaw that he'd steal from other dogs. Then we got Whiskey, Vector and Rogue. All pure bred German Shepherds. None of them would fetch.

Oh, and I was at my sister's in Colorado last week, playing with her 8 1/2 week old mixed puppy. I brought a tennis ball with me and threw it for her as soon as I got there. She fetched it and brought it back over and over.
