Sometimes the sense of comfort depends upon who you share the experience with. Don at 6’5” looks like a positive and accommodating companion.
When I put my extended floor mats in finally (that cover the hump crossmember thingee), he asked me what makes them better than the stock mats. So I explained about the floor hump and how most passengers step on it and that can wear the carpet out in a hurry... And he said, "Do *I* do that?" Me: Yes. Him: You've never said anything to me about it. Me: That's because I'm just thrilled you are willing to even try getting in that seat at all! You think I'm gonna give you shit about a piece of carpet?!

RM I like how your pix web site displays the photos in large combined batches.

What a wonderful story and photo selection. I've been to that Stonehenge, too, and been up and down California lots of times. Yet I never get tired of the drive, or hearing about it and seeing photos. But for a lack of vacation time (USA sucks in that department), I wish that we could have made that journey, too. Thanks for sharing.

From your photos I don’t notice any pepper grounds surrounding your cars. Did you give up on dissuading your neighborhood cats from using them as litter boxes or spray targets? I've always meant to ask you how successful your pepper efforts were.

I arrived home at 20:58 EDT on Thursday. 7 Aug 14 after a 7100 (exactly) Mile, seventeen day road trip. I have now been able to check off several things on my "Bucket List". I got to drive across this great country of ours, which I have wanted to do since I was a teenager. I also got to check North Dakota and Montana off of my list of states that I have never been too before. I am now down to Mississippi, New Mexico and Alaska.
I do regret that I was in a bit of hurry to get back in time to go to Bettye's internment at Arlington National Cemetery. In my rush to get home in the last two days I missed stopping at the the world's largest truck stop Iowa 80 as well as the Iowa state fair, as well as a few other stops I would have liked to make on the way back home. But, there are some things that one just has to do out of respect for special people.

Thank you for the write up and wonderful pictures of your trip.
Unfortunately being so far east we did not have time to attend this trip.
Hopefully once my early retirement in 2016 kicks in there will be another opportunity to attend a meet in the PNW
Thanks again.
