Needs your prayers

Grant only posts of the Political forum these days. For those who do not go there I wanted to share the message he just posted.

I'm currently sitting in the Cleveland Clinic in Weston Fl. They're flying in a surgeon from Cleveland to join the surgical team. They are trying a similar procedure to what Harry had. Things are not looking good. I've got a 20% shot at survival.Danger score 8. The infection has moved to my heart. They've stopped it but it's already done the damage. I originally thought I'd be taken out by my little toe. Now they're calling it broccoli.
If I don't show up again, assume the worst. There may be one of the prettiest and best maintained Corvettes on earth for sale soon.
Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

I’m praying for the best possible results Grant.
Best of luck.
Even if I don’t like Trumpet...

JoePhotographer 06-11-2018 10:27 AM

Prayers and all the best...

MsPerky 06-11-2018 10:42 AM

OMG...now I see the connection between the heart and foot. I am pulling for you, Grant. You have all my best to pull through. If anyone can, it is you!!!!!!!! :fingerscrossed:

sam_spider 06-11-2018 10:49 AM

Thoughts are with you, hoping for the best.

Lainey 06-11-2018 10:51 AM

I'm not sure I'm getting the connection.. Is it a circulatory issue in foot, lead to infection now systemic? Grant will be in my thoughts. Please keep us posted and pass along my thoughts, Dave.

Thank you.

MsPerky 06-11-2018 11:13 AM

^ He stepped on something while out fishing on the flats and his foot got infected. His little toe had to be amputated and he had antibiotic infusion for some weeks. He thought it was cleared up but it was not. It spread to his heart.

Lainey 06-11-2018 11:37 AM

^
Oh that's awful.....I know he had past health issues and thought it was related.

ralper 06-11-2018 12:55 PM

I lock horns with him almost every day in the Politics forum, and I hope to be able to continue to lock horns with him for a very long time. We disagree on almost every issue, but this one. Politics aside, I'm praying that he recovers and does well. Damn it, make sure you get well, we need you to give us someone on the other side to fight with.

Godspeed.

kgf3076 06-11-2018 01:16 PM

I'm hoping for the best, Grant.

UnkieTrunkie 06-11-2018 01:29 PM

Hang in there Grant!

Zippy 06-11-2018 01:31 PM

I know we don't see eye to eye, but I do wish you all of the best. Get better soon.

Kyras 06-11-2018 02:12 PM

Oh, jeez, Grant. I hope you kick this infection!

tof 06-11-2018 02:23 PM

I have no idea why but about three days ago I was thinking (out of the blue...wasn't even on my computer) "Haven't heard from fltsfshr in a long time. Wonder why." The answer is, of course, I don't do the political forum.

Please let Grant know that Mississippi also sends our thoughts and wishes for a good outcome.

windhund116 06-11-2018 03:35 PM

Hope the antibiotics work and all is okay, after awhile. Not even sure how to access Political Forum.

 :)

Wow Grant, this really sucks! Keep fighting brother, never give up.

jukngene 06-11-2018 03:57 PM

Warning! Graphic pic that Grant posted. I surely send the old curmudgeon my best wishes. He is, after all, a fellow Vietnam vet.

Spoiler

S2KRAY 06-11-2018 04:32 PM

Grant, my Naples connection, I am praying for you and trust that God will intervene and help you. I am confident you will be driving that gorgeous Vette soon.

Morris 06-11-2018 06:59 PM

Grant,
good vibes coming your way. Beat this thing and get back to us.

zdave87 06-12-2018 03:50 AM

Best wishes, Grant.

windhund116 06-12-2018 04:13 AM

That photo looks painful. All this from an infection (from bite or wound), after fishing?

Thanks! I am a paid member. The link which once was here in VINTAGE, is gone or moved.

You better check with an admin. You should have "Member" under your name and stars, and you don't.

windhund116 06-12-2018 04:19 AM

Really odd, guess I let membership lapse. Got no notice. Anyhow, reapplied, still no Politics section.

Maybe, it takes a little time. :)

Thanks!

MsPerky 06-12-2018 04:37 AM

^ There now...you should have access. It's a forum listed above the Vintage Forum threads.

windhund116 06-12-2018 07:24 AM

Thanks, see Politics now!

Sorry, for the momentary detour in this thread's course. Good luck with the treatment!

engifineer 06-12-2018 11:06 AM

Cant say I know him, but do not wish this on anyone. He will be in my families prayers!

jukngene 06-12-2018 11:41 AM

Grant posted this around noon today:

Surgeons have delayed till Friday.

Vadster 06-12-2018 11:43 AM

I wouldn't know if that is good or bad, not having a clue (nor do I want to) of what he is going through, I would want to get it over with asap.

buckeyesue 06-12-2018 11:53 AM

I don't think my husband and I have ever met Grant, but please add our prayers to all of the others.

I sure hope that he can beat this thing.

dlq04 06-12-2018 01:36 PM

Sue, Here is a little background on Grant; which I hope he does not mind my sharing. He’s been an S2000 member for 15 years and lives in Naples, FL where he owns a children’s retail shop. My dealing with Grant took place in 2013 when he bought my memorabilia collection weighing 138 pounds and included nearly 80 die casts, nearly 60 sales brochures from around the world (one rare one at the time was selling for $90), nearly 500 magazine articles from around the world, etc., etc.). It was my understanding everything but the die cast models were going to be donated to the Collier Auto Museum/Revs Institute Library. At the time he owned a supercharged 2002 with an AP2 engine. I believe a Vette may have replaced that. His number one hobby is flat boat fishing.

buckeyesue 06-12-2018 01:47 PM

Dave, thanks for the info. I know that Grant has been active in the forums for a long time, and I have seen many posts from him. However, I don't think my husband and I have ever met him in person.

Dave, I'm glad that your extensive collection has gone to a good home, including an auto museum and library.

My husband and I are pulling for Grant.

Tachus 06-12-2018 04:51 PM

I think we met him at a Nor'Easter many years ago. Just before he drove from home to the west coast. We will include him in our prayers, may God be gracious to him.

JonasM 06-15-2018 07:47 AM

I got to know him some years ago when he came up to Cleveland for a procedure of some sort at the Cleveland Clinic. He was looking for something to do to spend the time, and Virginija, little Anika and I took him to Great Lakes Brewing Company. We also visited him last summer in Naples when we were there. An absolutely great guy. I'm trusting that he'll beat this.

Jonas

S2KRAY 06-16-2018 06:54 AM

When we visit Naples in the winter I always stop by his Children's store which his wife operates. We would sit outside at the Bas Ass coffee shop and talk. Grant fished and does the books. When he bought his new Corvette he took me for a ride then let me drive it. I was nervous until he said get on it, which I did. Wow, what a machine. I am still praying for him and hope he beats this thing. Then in March I plan on getting another ride in his Vette. Hang in there buddy.

paS2K 06-16-2018 07:52 AM

Just reading this and wishing Grant the best outcome. Life sucks sometime. Any news from the operation re-sched for Friday?

MsPerky 06-22-2018 05:41 AM

Grant just posted this in Politics:

Made it and in recovery.. I'm still in the ICU
Thanks for all the well wishes
fltsfshr

engifineer 06-22-2018 06:41 AM

That is very, very good to hear!
