New Accord not selling well

The midsize car segment is dead. The mindless herd all believe they need an SUV. The manufacturers are happy to oblige. Buyers these days are more concerned with how quick their phones connect, than how their vehicle drives. Oh, I can lock my car with my phone, I'll take it! What a bunch of crap.

PS King. Thought I would share this about the Honda CRV I am considering; it's from the The Detroit News. "Honda’s remarkably taut chassis is based on the same platform as the Audi A3-baselined Civic play-toy that has motorheads drooling. How serious is Honda about SUV handling? CR-V project leader Nagadome’s first job at Honda was body engineering for the NSX supercar. It shows. Throw the Honda into a 90-degree right-hander and it bites. Even the CR-V’s safety system freaked at the speeds I was taking corners: the auto-brake assist flashed “BRAKE” in the instrument panel as I hurtled into one ess turn."
I realize its still an SUV and I will not see it racing at Sebring this weekend but its not the dog you describe.

I'm not anti SUV at all. We own a CRV, I just don't understand why everybody, all of a sudden, think they need a SUV, when a car did them just fine for decades. We need one because of our lovely winters and 3rd world like roads. My remarks are not directed at Honda, think Ford and you'd be closer. Glad you like the new CRV. I was a Honda dealer for 23 plus years, so you're preaching to the choir!

Where are you that winters are so bad that roads are impassable in a car?
Also, It wouldn't be a decision based on looks alone? I've had a few people ask do you like the new accord? Seems they finally found their way with design and are now pushing the design cockiness level again.

I'm in rural Nova Scotia and on a dirt road to boot. There are many times my Tacoma plow truck has to wait for bigger gear to come to the rescue. I agree though, 95% of the time a good front drive car with four good snow tires is all you need. Unfortunately it looks like the Toyota will be getting another workout tonight-tomorrow. Yeah.

Personally I don't care for the looks of the 2018 Accord's (10th Generation). The 9th Generation (2013-2017) look much better. Also I'm sure switching from the 6 cylinder to 4 cylinder (2.0 and 1.5) turbo models might have hurt the sales.

Never quite been a fan of the gaping maw on the front of a car. nee lexus predator front grill.
I wonder if the clarity plug in hybrid is eating into their own sales.
I also wonder if the absence of a V6 is hurting them.
and their website is annoying to find details. all glitz and bling but no meat.
it's like the appetizers at a cheap wedding.

As we all know torque matters. The fact that the CRV only offers the 1.5L turbo is the main reason I've held off buying one. 179# torque takes planning to pass anyone; me no like. I wish they would offer the 2L turbo but it looks like that is only going to be available in the Acura. But with Accord sales off maybe someone will grant my wish.

I'm guessing that honda panicked and pivoted their whole line to fuel economy.
oops gas got cheap again. now they are sitting their with a bunch of low power fuel sippers.

I was an early SUV adopter with a short-lived Jimmy and then a '91 Typhoon. They were trucks and they drove like trucks. That caused me to abandon them until I bought a 2000 CRV. They were much better but I quickly went back to the Accord. I'm on my second Crosstour (2015) and love it to death. When my lease is up in November, I may purchase the Crosstour. However, the new Accord is a contender for me. The salesman that I deal with says that next month he may have an opportunity for me to drive an Accord Sport with the K20 turbo 2.0l motor and a 6-speed manual (they want more than $4K for the manual option).
