New rock-pop music (again)
A new music thread, again.
I kind of stopped listening to current music a few years ago, because I just couldn't find a station on the radio that played what I enjoyed. I enjoy "classic" rock, but I don't want to hear it all of the time. XM seems to have helped me find some new stuff.
I really love Evanessence, and have been listening to Jet, Franz Ferdinand, Black Eyed Peas and Coldplay. I find that I listen to "Fred" in XM most which is Alternative.
Anyone find anything that you really like recently.

Newish bands that I enjoy listening to:
Sister Hazel (not really 'heartland rock' but good singer/songwriters)
The Killers (great synth pop debut followed by Springsteenesque second)
Fountans of Wayne (some of the BEST lyrics around - funny and foot tappn)
The Kennedys (great jangle-pop)
Jonathan Coulton (geek pop-rock at its best Google "Thing a Week")

When I had XM I listened one more station down the dial, Ethel. It's more hard edged alternative than Fred. I like some Coldplay, but not the melodic slow stuff. I LOVE the piano beat in one of their older songs, Clocks.

Zippy, I'll bet you'd love MUSE. They do some great stuff. Here's a youtube sample. WOW, I'd like to hear them on YOUR sound system.

Can't believe you listen to Muse Val. They played the death of out Starlight here at the beach last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-c94VVU7zc
OR, there is little that I haven't listened to. One thing that's a constant in my life is music. I enjoy almost everything but have little tolerance for country for some reason. I guess the "somebody did somebody wrong" stuff isn't a source of pleasure for me. I sort of laughed when you mentioned some of the bands you listened to in the past. I remember quite well Good Charlotte, Blink 182 and Weezer. Who/what gets played in the car depends on where I'm driving, what kind of driving I'm doing and the mood of the driver (me) that day. When we're just reading or having dinner, then something nice and mellow like a classical piece, some new age or jazz is in order. When I'm sailing down the highway hitting some twisties, then Muse, Coldplay or just some good ole rock music is in order.
I can listen to this kind of stuff anytime: Sonja from Secret Garden I think I have all their cds, along with Enya and Yanni.
