New Shingles Vaccine
#72
Funny that I just spotted this thread. I had an appointment with my doctor today and asked about the new shingles vaccination. They are struggling with a shortage and we agreed to wait for my next appointment in 6 months. I had no idea it was so expensive. I'll have to contact my insurance company now.

I've given up looking. A typical reply from a drug store - we're out, won't be getting anything till some time next year, and we have 50 people on the waiting list. Better get those Chinese factories working 3 shifts.

I'm thinking back to my physical in May when my Doctor wanted to give it to me and I decided to wait until it a while.

I got the first dose of the shingles vaccine yesterday. The doc's office called me last week to make an appointment for a "nursing visit" After receiving the first dose, you go to the top of the list for when the next batch comes in. The second shot should be administered within 2-6 months. I've got a sore arm, and actually some swelling and redness at the injection site. I don't usually get a reaction to vaccines. The info I was given advises one can also feel tired, achy etc. I am tired tonight, but can't say if that has anything to do with the vaccine.
I did check with my insurance to make sure the shot would be paid, no problem and no co-pay requested for the visit.

My doc still doesn't have any. My pharmacy got some and is going down the waiting list. Not sure they will get to me. Very high demand everywhere.

Ditto, might be getting close to squeaky wheel time

Going tomorrow for #1 Had the original a few years ago so this one is my nickel as The Gvt and our prescription plan do not currently cover it. $150 Cdn dollars plus $20 bucks to the Pharmacy to do the Jab

With all the difficulty get the first shot, I'd have concerns about getting the second on on time.
