New Toyota FJ Cruiser

One of the most "fun" vehicles I have owned over the years was a 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I had it for about 4 years and can't recall why I sold it. I don't recall climbing a tree wih it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Several years ago, I was in Costa Rica and noticed that apparently newer and smaller versions of the older FJ design were running around. I lamented that other countries were getting neat vehicles and we were being left out.

Now Toyota is about to introduce a new "retro" version of the off-road Land Cruiser. I'm getting retro thoughts...

It's just plain ugly in my book...

Retro and cool like the Challenger is one thing, but this is retro and ugly. The window proportions really bother me, as well as that huge slab side aft of the rear door, and the fact that the back door window and the back side window don't relate to each other in any way just makes me ill.

I like it. Particularly the off-road version of the S02 tires.

To each their own...

I've been keeping track of this one. The good things, it's utilitarian and supposedly cheap, like low 20's. I'm not fond of the look either though, and people are already talking about the blind spot on the side. I'd still go with a Jeep Wrangler, convertible.
