My best man and friend for over 40 years just traded his 2003 Mini Cooper S in on a 2007 S2000 with just 36,000 miles. An unmolested Silverstone with all black interior. He wanted me to test drive if first. It was great to drive it since mine has been slumbering since November. Hope to entice them to come to some of the great vintage events we have had the privilege to participate in over the last 4 years.

Sounds like your friend found a great car. Ours hit 100K recently. If we found a good deal on a newer model, low mileage, we'd consider it. Maybe your friend wants an S2000 that's more broken in?

What was the reason your friend traded the Mini Cooper for the S? I've been thinking if I ever sell mine, I might buy a Mini Cooper.

My sister -in-law got one about 6 months ago and she just loves the thing. My brother tells me she looks for excuses to take it out for a ride.

I've known a couple people who loved and loved to hate their Mini Coopers. Quite a few maintenance (costly maintenance) issues.

I hope you have better roads than MI. When they first came out I tested one in FL. It was great, then I came back and tested one in MI. It sucked. That cured my desire quickly.

My friend bought the Cooper new in 2003. Looking for something more exciting and RELIABLE. Found repairs to be very expensive and hard to find people who could and would work on it.

Yup. Very fun cars that break a lot. A LOT.

My daughter had the countryman. I liked it. Expensive though and expensive to maintain.
