Default and now with extra legrooom.

Flying back and forth to phoenix this week.
I was on American and had been "upgraded" to the economy plus or whatever they call it.
That's the one with all of the extra legroom.
I'm 6'1", fairly big framed, and 255 but the length of a thigh bone generally isn't a weight thing.
so here is all of that extra legroom.

The observant reader might not be able to detect the gap between the seat back and the my knee caps.
because there isn't one. I can't imagine the seats without it.
and this is seat straight up, butt all the way back.

" in the event of a water crash place head between knees....

and god forbid you drop something on the floor, everyone has to move out of the row so you can crawl down and get it.
The back seat of my S63 has more room.

LOL...every day I realize more and more why we haven't flown anywhere in a while.....However, there are parts of the country I'd like to see, and driving would not be fun either....

Life can be difficult if you don't fit into the "average." If you are short you can't reach things in the grocery store, if you are tall cars and planes can be difficult.

I only fly in Southwest. All seats are the same and unassigned. I find them comfortable but I don't know if you would, Jerry.

That space is called "Pitch". That is the distance between rows of seats. Think of it as the distance between the back of your seat and the seat in front of you. The thickness of seats (older ones are thicker) and the tray table, your thigh length and all the rest are included in that number.
28 inches is the bare minimum, used on low cost carriers.
31 inches is the minimum for long-haul flights on full-service airlines.
34 inches is sometimes available on a few international airlines.

American generally offers 31 to 32 inches of seat pitch in its economy cabin.

Bulkheads may be a benefit. Aisle seats can let you stretch a bit more. Emergency exits also have more room but be aware that the seats AHEAD of the exit row will have no recline to prevent any intrusions on the space needed to evacuate. That means the aft seats in the exit row are the best but the window seat cushions are thinner and usually have a degraded armrest next to the fuselage.

Remember when we complained because the steak that came on the dinner flight was a little overcooked? In coach?

Of course a Y fare (full fare coach) ticket from N.Y. to Miami might run you $750 too.

Oh, you mean the ones that were eaten off of real china with real knives and forks? Yeah, I remember those days.
