It's been 10 years since we visited Paris. Seeing all these paintings and Deb's itinerary have me itching to go again!

And this is one I purchased in Paris in 1961, a knife painting that I sent home to my parents for Christmas. It was still wet because of the thick oils when they opened it, thus the smuge over the painters signature.

Wow Dave. Very impressed with your artistic talent. Do you still paint.

Tried to pay for our Paris tour by credit card and it was denied. Called and found out it was because I was not using it at the point of charge. Told them it was legit and it went through the second time. I like that the company is on top of anything that appears fraudulent.

While I have not been, I think the whole river tour concept is brilliant and the best way to really see Europe. Those rivers were the life's blood of the continent's economy. The cities were built up on and around the rivers and the bays and harbors they flow from or into. You are pretty much guaranteed to see the oldest parts of most cities this way and come away with an appreciation for how the city grew over the centuries. To my mind, the history of these cities would be the most important things to take away from any trip.

^ That's why the themes of the cruise are art and history and all of the tours at the various stops revolve around one or both. One cool thing is that we will be sailing right past the little town I lived in so long ago, called Medan. It was near a larger town called Villennes, about 20 miles from Paris. Not sure how much I will be able to see from the river, since it might be dark when we arrive at that point. But I'm going to clue in the captain so someone comes and notifies me when we are close and I can go up on deck.

Only an hour away from Evreux where I spent 3 years.

Nephew accidentally spilled some of the beans today at lunch when he said "You are going on a river cruise, right?" I was just about to say that it's too bad we can't talk about the trip because the +1 doesn't know anything except we are flying to Paris. Oh well...at least he doesn't know anything else, like where we are actually going or about the tour I have planned in Paris the day we arrive.

Deb, do either of you mangle or parlez-vous Francias?

How did you get around the 30 day advance notification security problem?
