Default Pearl Harbor Day

Remember Pearl Harbor Day today. I thought it was cool that the football broadcast was in Hawaii near the Memorial. 74 years ago so a group of the survivors that were present had to be in their 90's. One guy was quite spry for being that old. Not sure we gained much awareness from a surprise attack. My Dad and his brother served in the Pacific under Halsey and enlisted soon after the attack.

A truly tragic day in our nations history, a day we shall always remember.

Yes, thank you. I served with honor in the U.S. Navy and have the utmost respect for those who gave their lives or who were injured on this terrible day.

Wayne Dertien of Hudsonville has a copy of The Grand Rapids Press from the day after the Pearl Harbor bombing, which he inherited from his mother-in-law, Viola Jorgensen, who collected copies of The Press from major events. (Emily Zoladz | Mlive.com)

Yes, a sad day in our history. The USS Arizona Memorial I found to be very moving. A must see if you are out there.

Must have gotten in and left really early. They showed up before 8.
