I have an Escort X70 and S55. I previously used the Escort 8500 and 9500. Both of my current Escorts are limited production units that compare more than favorably to the Escort Max 360 but do not have firmware update features. I swear by them. I'm not going to admit to how much over the speed limit I usually drive but they have saved me thousands of dollars.

Well, unfortunately they are illegal in Virginia.
And then we have this little jewel:
"Virginia Code 46.2-862: A person shall be guilty of reckless driving who drives a motor vehicle on the highways in the Commonwealth (i) at a speed of twenty miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit or (ii) in excess of eighty miles per hour regardless of the applicable maximum speed limit."
Reckless driving is a criminal offense in VA so now you are talking big money. Typically you can expect $2000-$3000 all in costs. It's used very aggressively in rural communities as "revenue generation".
So like many others, I'm typically 6-9 mph over the posted limit, no more.
I had an Escort when we lived in LA and it worked well.

I have a 360 Max... after having a Escort 8500 for years....
It does give quite a few false alarms when traveling on expressways.....
But if you start to pay attention to when it goes off.... you can get somewhat comfortable with what is going to be laser and what is another cars avoidance system.
The 360 sure does give me a lot more range than the 8500 did....
My radar detector is like an Amex card... I never leave home without it!

I drive about 7-10 over, actual speed. It's an indicated 12-15 over but the speedometer in the Miata and the Accord both read about 5 MPH high at 60-70, as calibrated by both gps and a number of those "Your Speed" radar signs.I have passed a number of highway patrol speed traps on interstates doing 10 over. Never lifted and they never have shown any interest. Setting the cruise at 8 or 9 over and relaxing is well worth the time I might save, as well as the stress, doing 15 over with my "cop eyes" on full alert.
Every speeding ticket I have ever received (with one exception) was when I had a radar detector on board, always an Escort. Last one was probably 20 years ago. Guess like Dave I'm getting old.
