As long as we're asking questions.....

Ray Can I hire your talents? Would you do a full detail for me when you're down here?

Bill, Auto Geek is a good supplier. Klasse is a synthetic polymer formulated in Germany and it cleans and provides a protective coating. I does not remove swirls and holograms like a good polish will. The protectant that goes over that and the wax are not necessary. You can get a Meguiar's detail spray at any auto supply store as well as applicators. I think you are wasting your money. I buy my supplies from a professional detailing supplier in NY www.detailedimage.com Their guys detail vehicles for Barrett-Jackson and Mecum and their detailers use most of the products supplies by DI. My recommendation would be a thorough clay bar using a good lube (Detailing spray) to remove any contamination, a mild polish if you don't have a buffer, then Blackfire Wet Diamond all in one protectant. This is a superior synthetic polymer which provides protection and a wet look finish to your vehicle and you dont need anything else. For maintenance I recommend the Blackfire detailing spray which has the same formulation as the polymer and refreshes the vehicle to a "just detailed" look. You just need some normal Microfiber towels for removing the clay barring spray and polish and a good MF towel for removing the polymer. Kits are always over priced and carte blanche gets you just the products you need. I can give you specific recommendations on these products as well as cost. I would recommend going on their site and checking it out. I will contact my supplier to see if I can get you my wholesale discount, about 20%.

I use Ceriglass on windshields. I do have a smaller buffer with 4" pads as you have to work the product. If not, you have to remove the product with a good Microfiber towel. It works well and removes smears contamination which build up. It does not remove scratches or small stone dings. I am not very familiar with nano crystal finishes as I use Blackfire which is a synthetic polymer and I believe is similar. I am asking my detailing supplier some questions for Bill so I will ask for his input. When I purchased my BMW the dealer offered a nano treatment for it which cost 1K. I declined.

Grant, room is premium when we travel to travel to Fla. I might be able to squeeze the buffer, polish, protectant sand some other small items but no vacuum or any large items. I will let you know next week after we pack. I could always leave my wife at home.

Not a problem, won't take long and it will get me out of my wife's hair. Only thing I need is a garage and decent lighting.

Bill, my supplier gave me some recommendations which will be less than a kit and I can use my discount. I just need to place the order and have it shipped to you.

[/quote]Bill, I just got an e-mail from my supplier and here is what he is recommending for you:

Dawn Dish washing soap to remove any previous polishes, wax (buy at grocery store)
Chemical Guy Max Suds (For future washing, will not remove protectant)
Detailed Image Fine Clay Bar (Rub over small area of surface until smooth)
Poorboys spray and wipe (This product can be used as a lube for the clay bar and for a quick detail after washing) use 1 MF towel to remove and 1 to buff
Poorboy's world black hole glaze (can be used after clay bar, hides minor imperfections and is easier to remove by hand than polish)
Blackfire Wet Diamont polymer paint protection (apply and wait 15 minutes to remove) super slick and glass like finish
Microfiber all prupose detailing towels (use for removing lube, glaze, and for quick detailing (6 towels)
MF foam applicator pad for applying glaze and protectant (2 pads)
MF Deep Blue super plush towel for removing protectant or buffing after a quick detail. (2 towels)
These products areused by professionals and enthusiasts and they all get very high ratings in the comments section of the description of the products. You are getting more with this recommendation as well as higher quality products compared to the kit. If my math is right the total is about $130. after my discount it is about $104, shipping is reasonable and fast. Hope this helps, just let me know. Ray
