I don't know this for a fact, but I've been told that the Type-R is not selling well. Personally, I think its the price. $34,000 for what starts its life as a Civic seems like a lot of money to me (and I love Civics). I bet if they lowered the price to about $28,000 and did something about the wing the car would fly out of the showrooms.

$41,000 Cdn dollars to buy in and we do not have dealer mark-ups here just MSRP. BUT when you add the POTUS 25% you do the math

Maggie,

My understanding is that the Type-R is made in England. I don't think you'd have an issue with the tariff, but we would stateside.

My Si, i think, is made in Canada. I paid about $26,000 for my Si, with Mr. Trump's tariff it would be $32,500. A bit much for a car that starts its life as a Civic.

Rob-

I agree on price too. I think the jump into the mid 30s for a Civic is just wrong.

I was talking about your tariff Robb You are correct the type R is made in The UK and most Civics in Canada.

They made the same mistake with the Accord. I personally think the car has grown too big and heavy, but that's not why it hasn't sold well. In spite of its size and weight, it's probably the best Accord ever made but they priced it too high, It's sale price and it's lease price was the highest in the category.

As much as I like Honda's products, and I know that some of America's best young engineers work for them, I have to admit that their marketing department needs an overhaul. I don't think they really understand the market. I really think they have a great car in the Type-R (wing notwithstanding) but they don't know how to price or market it.
