Default A recent S2000 review and appreciation

A very recent (August 2018) 37-minute review by SavageGeese. He says he has had 4 S2000's. He goes into very technical aspects as well as driving impressions.
He doesn't pull punches and tells you about its weaknesses, and its many strengths. The review includes interviews with Sigeru Uehara, the S2000 lead designer.

The bottom line is that he loves the S2000, especially the AP2 model.

Yeah, I think I WILL spend 37 minutes watching this. After all, I am on my third S2000 and have plates to prove my love. Even my email does. I think I'll get some wine to go with this video. Be right back. Thank you, for the link, Dennis.

^8-30-2018 Bye bye California plate. You will always be loved on my garage wall.

8-30-2018. And of course ^that means S2000 Lover, not S2000 Liver, Scoots! David. What are we going to do about him?

SG did a good job reviewing the car, and for a review he really hit on the weak points of the car. It took me near 20 cars, and playing with various layouts and driving styles to really settle on the S2k as the keeper car, that said I also have a cushy SUV to drive (and I own that too) so it's abit different. the only car I would say that comes close to the same driving mantra as the S2000 is your 09+ rx8. It's more livable as a solo car, but you sacrifice that knife edge mentality.

Now if you 'xuse me, I have a TCT to replace >_>

That was good; thanks for the post. OMG, I totally agree with his ripping up the AP1 transmission. I thought I had to have the only one in the world that was not the slickest, smoothest, trans ever made - because every car review said it was. 2nd to 3rd was a pain unless I shifted perfectly, which generally meant slowly. I don't recall my car being noisy with the top up but it was never a daily driver so it was almost always down. I really loved my AP1, especially on the track, but he certainly made a good argument for the AP2, which I must confess I always looked down on as a car that was changed because so many younger drivers were wrecking the AP1's. Sadly, I see my car sitting in a neighbor's garage basically unused over the past two years. Maybe I should ask him if I can borrow it for a track weekend.

Mark (SavageGeese) is an old friend of mine and an avid car enthusiast. He's also done a full technical series on the BRZ. I did the road test segment in his first BRZ video (Review | The Marginal Scion FR-S BRZ | Part 3) on YouTube. He's a cool guy. I don't know where he gets his energy. He leaves me in the dust.

All of the roads in the video are just west of where I live and most race track is Blackhawk Farms in South Beloit, IL, about an hour north.

I saw the IL plates and wondered if you knew him. . . .. ... figured you might.

I agree on the AP1 tranny. I misshifted from 3rd to 2nd at a high RPM and blew the engine. My AP2 was better.

I should mention that Mark has two more S2000-related videos in planning and works. One is how to go about buying an S2000 and the other is a series of How To Modify.
